13 years ago, the Greek government passed the first memorandum. That was the beginning of Greece's downward spiral. Back then they wanted Greeks to believe that Greece was a special case, and the memorandum was solely the result of years of mismanagement.
After more than a decade, the public debt of Greece has not dropped, but now, after selling off (for peanuts) many of the profitable public companies - assets, there is little chance of ever paying the debt back, since there is no way of making this money from taxes.
Despite this common knowledge, Goldman Sachs and other similar companies, recently issued a statement that Greece is for the first time in 13 years, close to regaining investment grade status.
Of course, this is one of the companies that was also accepting bets against Greece 14 years ago, so can we trust them since they seem to have financial interests tied to Greece? I think not. It is not only illogical, it is also immoral and it should be illegal. But of course the game they play is not beneficial only to these companies, or other ones hidden in the shadows of the financial world, but also are beneficial for certain governments of the world that have not lost their Neo-collonial attitudes towards the world.
They are the new mafia of the world, and they appointed as servants and pawns to rule small countries like Greece, in order to pass their will in a "democratic" way.
Unfortunately democracy has died in Greece a long time ago and the body is still not buried and it smells badly. The current government of Greece was voted by merely 20,5% of the voters, (they claim 41%, but with nearly 50% abstaining voters, the percentage is really half) yet due to the electoral system, the party was able to gain the majority of seats, so any voices from the opposition carry absolutely no weight at all. The government can bring laws in the parliament that they themselves will vote and execute, so there is no actual distinction between the three powers: legislature and executive and judiciary. Because the same government appoints the supreme judges.
In May 2023, people have asked the politicians to create a government of many political parties, so the voices of all people could be expressed within the government, but the current government chose not to listen. They knew that with the next electoral law, and the huge amount of voters that abstained from the elections, it would be easy to become the government with about 20% of the total. It was just a matter of convincing all they traditional voters and those that had shared interests (see: gaining from the current political status of selling out public assets) and they accomplished that, despite all the scandalous choices of the previous 4 years. (and many more before that)
I can not say something original, because it is the same old story. They use big words and promises, that you realize that they are full of exceptions. This is so tragic because you realize all the exceptions only when you are in need. And the exceptions are so many that nearly everybody is affected negatively in the country. Well, apart from this 20% that think that will make it, even if the whole society fall apart.
But the lies work because either people chose to believe in them, or because they do not become widely known. Unfortunately, even after a so-called leftist government from 2015-2019, all the injustices that people have been shouting about for years and years are still here tormenting our daily life.
After stealing and selling the public assets, they now steal the private property, with huge taxes that are indirect confiscation, since nothing returns to the tax payer. What's more, they execute the young generation with salaries that can not even cover their rent, forcing them to leave Greece, or stay but being unable to raise a family, have personal creative time and do anything else but work to make ends meet.
The law that passed today in the Greek parliament, that among others "allows" people to work 13 hours each day, is a mockery to all the hard working people, because the hourly salary is still around 5 euros per hour, while the inflation is over 20%!
So what they do, is steal our only available time which is NOW, by referring to our glorious past and promising a wonderful future if we follow their policies. Which have been proven wrong again and again, yet they insist on them . Selling all public companies, destroying the small villages and cities by stripping them of they resources and allowing nature to be destroyed so they can set up with fast track procedures that are not beneficial to nature and rendering the population helpless and poor. In effect the politicians are giving away Greece to obscure companies and people to exploit. And Greeks that remain in Greece and can work, are a bonus for all these businesses, cheap labor.
At the same time, people are struggling to afford their rent, since now Greeks in big cities, have to compete with tourists that rent Air BnB, people from abroad that buy property as an investment, people that need to spend 250.000 Euros to get a golden visa, etc. And the government does nothing for this, because all it thinks is its cut from this income...
After 13 years of crisis in Greece the government still has the nerve to blame the poor people that things are taking so long to get straightened out and demand more sacrifices simply because the poor people didn't accept and follow their policies to the letter.
